Auburn vs. LSU

Auburn Family All In....and ours is too!

It was a family affair in more ways than one last weekend when Auburn beat #6 LSU in Jordan-Hare Stadium. We had quite the group at the game including AmyLaura, Anna's sister; Nathan, the Townson's and Owen's mutual cousin; Kennedy, Mabe's and my brother; and Michael Pair. I'd like to think our large group of diehards helped cheer our Tigers to victory. True fans that we are, we arrived at the gates 6 hours before kickoff, beaten only by a few fans who had actually slept there! Having previous experience with these matters, we of course came prepared with cards and snacks to pass the time (sunscreen would've been nice, but us Fisher girls only looked like lobsters for 3 or 4 days). Face tattoos on and hair sprayed Orange and Blue, we were stretched, hydrated, and ready for the mad dash into the stadium when the gates opened at 11:45. We got great seats in the end-zone, although not the front row we were shooting for....still not sure what went wrong there, but next game, next game!

The game itself was a blast, although it did have its frustrating moments which no Auburn game can be without. One of the highlights of the game was Cam Newton's 49 yard run for a touchdown with LSU defenders falling all around him, reminiscent of the epic battle scene in the cartoon Robin Hood (Cam being Lady Cluck)! Heisman anyone?? I've never seen fans stay in the stadium as long after the game as they did after this huge win! Winning a close and hard fought SEC game is one of the best adrenaline rushes you can find. Below are some pics from our fun day (you can click on each one to see a larger image).

Spoons....The Ultimate

Our first adventure (number 8 on our list) started out as a birthday surprise for Anna and Abby. Sarah Fisher, Mabe, and Sarah plotted a picnic outing with all the trimmings...chips, homemade slaw, and Price's BBQ and sweet tea. We ferried the unwitting girls off to Kiesel Park where we enjoyed our lunch and the beautiful afternoon.

Nothing like food, friends, and fellowship...

Soaking in the sun after chowing down.

"What a beautiful day for a picnic,
What a picnical day for a lark,
We frolicked all day, in the merriest way,
and we didn't come home until dark."

The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing, the butterflies were fluttering, and the clouds were floating by, and the spoons were flying. That's right...spoons were flying, as was Mabe, but we're getting ahead of ourselves. Our afternoon was concluded with a series of very rowdy games of Spoons. Many of you have heard of the game Spoons. While that game is fun for some people, we prefer to spice things up a mite and make it ULTIMATE SPOONS. What makes Spoons ultimate? Try placing the spoons a minimum of 20 yards away from your circle and (if you're not in the game) stand back while the competitors stampede each other to claim their piece of plastic serving-ware. You've never seen such animalistic survival of the fittest. Sweet, innocent young ladies, the apples of their mothers' eyes, become like rabid 6-5 300lb. linebackers with the quarterback in their sights. Be forewarned that bruises, scrapes, small contusions, and full-blown body slams are likely to occur (we do not encourage small children, frail elders, or expecting mothers to participate).

To the victor belongs the spoon.

We came...we saw...we spooned.

The day ended, and we left the park, fuller, wiser, more bruised, and battered than before.
One down, sixteen to go.

Five girls, five months, seventeen adventures...

Five Girls: From oldest to youngest (sorry Anna),
Anna is our adventure leader. She is always pushing us to do something exciting or new...although some of her ideas have been of questionable legality. Her joie de vivre and spunk shields us from a mundane existence.
Sarah Fisher (called thus by her roommates) is our apartment motherly type. She's also our efficient organizer. Without her all of our well laid plans would fall into a disorganized ruinous rubble. Speaking of rubble...the odds of us getting her out in the wilderness (see our adventure list) without either the aid of a dart gun or an inflatable hotel are slim, but we'll find a way.
Abby is the creative genius of our apartment and the mastermind behind this venture of ours. Of course being a procrastinator from way back we really should have planned to have 10 months to get this done. Oh, and did we mention she's "that girl?"
Mabe is the thoughtful steady one who keeps us all in line, the compass for our group that always points north. We may have to drag her away from her books for our adventures, but once she's free of them there's no holding her back. She might turn out to be the motivator for all our fun, unless she gets trampled by Anna too many times (small inside joke).
Sarah (Townson) is the kind and gentle member of our rowdy group. She often graciously plays referee for the more competitive ones, although when the time comes she can tackle with the best of them and run like the wind. She's very contemplative; picture a clothed female version of The Thinker. And most importantly, with her vast knowledge of the outdoors, if we get lost and stranded in the wilderness she will teach us how to distill water and eat lizards.

Five Months: In approximately five months, one of our troop will be single no more. And though we fully expect our adventures to continue after that joyous day, we intend to capitalize on the time we have left as roommates. And so...

Seventeen Adventures: harrowing happenings, deeds of daring do, fun-filled fiascos, semi-spontaneous scenes, just because jaunts = an absolutely amazing assortment of adventures. We have compiled the ultimate to-do list full to the brim of things that we've always wanted to do together. Each person has contributed her ideas to the list. Some ideas are less realistic than others (Abby with her sky-diving). Our pact was sealed with blood and a stroke of the pen. The purpose of our blog is to amuse ourselves and you, our readers, with tales, pictures, videos, and individual accounts of our exploits. Some days you'll hear from all of us, some days from some of us, and some days from none of us. But there's one thing you can be sure of, you will be hearing from us (hopefully not from accident reports or police scanners).

And so it begins...
